CIRCUITO ARTISTICO

Sin guardar una cronología exacta, este itinerario nos introducirá en las distintas expresiones artísticas desarrolladas por el hombre en Jujuy durante más de tres mil años. La historia del arte en la provincia comienza con los primitivos aborígenes quienes a través de pinturas en cuevas y aleros, tallados en rocas y herramientas líticas nos expresaban manifestaciones de la vida cotidiana como la caza y la religión. Años más tarde, todos estos elementos recibirán transformaciones en su funcionalidad y ornamentación bajo la dominación incaica. Con la llegada del español, el periodo colonial marcará durante el siglo XVIII una explosión en la creación de tallas, imaginería y pinturas provenientes de la conocida Escuela Cuzqueña, cuyas obras estaban destinadas a equipar la creciente demanda en las iglesias en su radio de influencia. El ejemplo más extraordinario de esta manufactura es, sin dudas, el púlpito de la Catedral construido en 1761. Ingresando en el siglo XX, San Salvador se honra de ser el custodio de seis obras de la artista salteña Lola Mora, donadas por la Nación a la provincia en 1924 y de las cuales en este circuito podremos admirar cinco de ellas. Para finalizar, conoceremos los trabajos de artistas contemporáneos, jujeños y también de otras provincias, desde reconocidos pintores y escultores hasta anónimos artesanos que nos maravillarán con sus obras exhibidas en un centro cultural y una exposición callejera.

ARTISTIC CIRCUIT

Although there is not an exact chronology, this itinerary will take us to the different artistic expressions developed by the local inhabitants for more than three thousand years. The art history of the province traces back to the primitive indigenous population, who expressed their daily activities, such as hunting and religion, through cave paintings, rock carving and carving instruments. Some years later, the Inca people transformed the functionality and the ornamentation of all these elements. After the Spanish arrival during the XVIII century, the colonial period marked an explosion regarding wood carving, religious imagery and paintings originated in the well-known Cuzco school, works that would be used to equip the churches in their influence area. Undoubtedly, the most exceptional example of this work is the pulpit of the cathedral, built in 1761. By the beginning of the XX century, San Salvador honorably held six sculptures of Lola Mora (an artist from the province of Salta), which were donated to the province by the national government in 1924. In this circuit, we will be able to admire five of the sculptures. Finally, we will see the work of contemporary artisans, both from Jujuy and other provinces, including well-known painters and sculptors and anonymous artisans that will amaze us with their works of arts exhibited in a cultural center and a street exhibition.
